The 1960s guitar legends Yardbirds have announced a show at Manchester’s Band on the Wall with original drummer Jim McCarty and the post-1992 line-up. Their guitar-wielding alumni include Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton, but beyond the big names is a songwriting staple emblazoned in the ears of generations of popular music fans. The 1992 revival coincided with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in recognition of the band’s pivotal contribution as peers of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and a discography that still fills venues more than half a century after they were written.
