Looking for a laugh? Waterside Arts has a riotous run of comedy nights coming up, with side-splitting shows from punsmith Gary Delaney, the incendiary Mark Thomas and the woodland-creaturesque Paul Foot. Here are some highlights you may not have noticed this September and October, so put the ‘gig’ into ‘giggle’ and book your Waterside comedy night out now.

Best of Buzz Comedy
Manchester’s historic Buzz Comedy brings you hilarious highlights from some of their wittiest performers. Headliner Mark Palmer hails from South Africa and comes brimming with banter about social media and mobile phones. Joining him is Reverend Allan Finnegan, a Merseyside baptist minister turned standup comedian, along with the mournful musings of Dan Bland. If your sides haven’t split too much, take advantage of the Waterside’s Comedy & Curry Deal at the nearby Massala Lounge before or after the show.

Kathy Lette’s Girls’ Night Out
Author Kathy Lette celebrates her new book ‘Best Laid Plans’ with what promises to be a “psychological strip tease”. Her new show Girls’ Night Out takes us from puberty to the menopause, gathering tales of love, lust, men and marriage along the way. Alongside celebrity name-dropping – Julian Assange, Prince William, George Clooney – Lette talks touchingly about raising a child on the autistic spectrum.

Barbara Nice: Raffle!
Barbara Nice (pictured) is a quick-witted comedy character who’s just completed a four-part BBC Radio 2 sitcom – and has been known to perform a stage-dive or two in her live shows. Tonight, the Edinburgh Fringe’s favourite housewife presents a new work about chance and luck. As you’d expect, the entrance price includes a complimentary raffle ticket and a bunch of prizes from Barbara’s table. A life-affirming show for all the family in the presence of a five-star performer.
