The seventh annual Design Manchester Festival – or DM19 – has confirmed that it will return to Manchester from Mon 11 – Sun 24 Nov for another celebration of creativity, forward thinking and design. What’s more, tickets are now on sale for the event’s flagship day-long conference which is due to take over The Bridgewater Hall on Fri 22 Nov and aims to bring inspiring ideas and innovation to the forefront of the conversation. This year’s confirmed speakers include Pentargram New York’s Paula Scher, iconic artist and musician Cosey Fanni Tutti and Anna Money’s digital business strategist Daljit Singh to name just a few – with the topic of SMART taking centre stage. During a day of workshops, talks, seminars, Q&As and craft making that will fill the entire Bridgewater Hall venue, guests will be invited to discuss smart thinking, smart tech and smart creativity by pulling upon their own personal experiences of taking their own path and breaking the rules. Other confirmed guests include Heatherwick Studio’s Neil Hubbard, Extinction Rebellion’s creative directors Clive Russell and Charlie Waterhouse and renowned typographic designer Hansje van Halem. Meanwhile, the conference will also boast a selection of workshops and events including a series of Ladies Wine and Design talks on the themes of Design Smart and The Age of the Female Gaze, Adventures in Lettering with illustrator and letterer Loz Ives and more.
