During their early 1980s peak, Dexys Midnight Runners blended the romance and mysticism of Van Morrison with the soul stomp of Sam & Dave to score a run of huge chart successes, before self-destructing after the commercial disaster of their 1985 Don’t Stand Me Down album. The past decade has seen the record re-evaluated as a lost masterpiece, and rejuvenated bandleader Kevin Rowlands finally ready to take one of British pop’s greatest back catalogues on the road. The reformed and renamed Dexys will perform new album, One Day I’m Going To Soar, as well as classic tracks like Geno and Come On Eileen. Expect Rowlands’ unique blend of theatrical gestures, impassioned call-and-response routines – and very sharp suits.
