February’s long-awaited second LP by Diiv will see its Manchester debut at Gorilla in March. The album, Is the Is Are, focuses the attentions of the band’s multi-talented singer, Zachary Cole Smith, firmly back in the ethereal dream pop sphere, following his divergence from music into modelling pursuits. But striding the catwalk and embracing the excesses of a rock’n’roll lifestyle took its toll, leading to time spent in rehab and jail en route back to command the stage. The critical acclaim afforded to both this and 2012’s Oshin suggest that the world of music is his natural home.
