Known for his legendary audio-visual tribute sets to the likes of Aphex Twin and Boards Of Canada, DJ Food is deeply engrained in the UK’s beat scene as a graphic designer (most prolifically for Ninja Tune)  and producer. Now it’s the turn of one of his greatest loves to get the special treatment: electronic pioneers, Kraftwerk. This one’s extra special as it’s been created especially for Manchester, bringing Food’s Kraftwerk Kover Kollection of mixes to life with a multi-sensory exploration of their work and their influence. Food says, ‘The Deaf Institute has the premiere, they’ve been really supportive of my AV sets so I thought it would be good to do something where London isn’t automatically the first to get something. I’m not going to be doing a straight Kraftwerk set with this though, I’ll be dipping into my archives and pulling out lots of strange cover versions, tunes that sample Kraftwerk heavily and some that take inspiration too. It’s a lot of work but I want to present a fresh take on their music as we’ve all heard the classics many, many times.‘ Enjoy the first volume of his audio series below.
