“You know when, every 6 months or whatever, you hear that disco record and it blows your mind? Well imagine that for hours and hours”. That quote was recently heard by someone talking about a typical set from DJ Harvey, superstar DJ for the bearded generation. Harvey, who will be playing Manchester for the first time in years due to his rumoured tax-exile in Hawaii, is certainly one of the most interesting guests in the WHP programme this season. He is, after all, the anti-superclub-hero. More disco than dubstep, more Balearic than big room. The vast Trafford warehouse will, however, host this not to be missed four-hour set – hosted by Red Bull Music Academy. No-one else is playing, just Harvey plus a few thousand people dancing; a musical journey that, for once, is not just a cliché.
