A stand out from Sheffield’s DOC/FEST in June comes to HOME for a one-off performance and a post-film Q&A with the films debut director Leilah Wineraub. Shakedown chronicles explicit performances in an underground black lesbian strip club in Los Angeles – The Shakedown – and is a carefully crafted selection of 400 hours of archived footage taken by Weinraub during her time as the club’s resident videographer. The film is about a club made exclusively by lesbians, for lesbians,  and tells of a rare haven of liberation at the hands of queer black women. This is a provocative cultural highlight in HOME’s Autumn calendar.
