Anyone looking to improve their artistic skills should sign up for Drawing the City, an intensive, one-day workshop taking place later this month. Hosted by experienced drawing tutor Jane Cockayne, the event starts out at MadLab, before setting off for drawing sessions out and about in the Northern Quarter. Attendees should bring their own sketchbooks, brushes, and a drawing board. However, courtesy of fine arts products company Wallace Seymour, drawing materials will be provided, including such high-end materials such as handmade watercolours, inks from plant bases and liquid graphite. Using these, you will be encouraged to explore more experimental ways of drawing, as well as the more traditional approaches. Participants will gather back at MadLab several times, to reflect on work and share constructive criticism. Jane will be on hand to offer tips and advice throughout the day. Places are strictly limited, so be sure to book soon.
