Those familiar with the jazz renaissance spearheaded by young artists such as Matthew Halsall and Kamasi Washington may recognise Dwight Trible’s name from lending his vocals to the latter’s recent Brainfeeder album, The Epic. Matthew’s appearance on DJ Shadow’s The Mountain Will Fall (alongside Run The Jewels and Nils Frahm) has upped his global profile too, and brought more attention to his Manchester-based Gondwana Records label. Dwight is his newest signing and this gig celebrates their collaboration, new album Inspirations, as he flies over from Los Angeles for a couple of UK dates with Matt. Dwight’s is a uniquely soulful voice in jazz, and the album sees them pay tribute to classic works from the likes of Burt Bacharach, Dorothy Ashby, John Coltrane, Donny Hathaway and Leroy Hutson. Warm up selections come from the Better Days crew.
