An experimental quintet is to perform Modern Ritual, an immersive show spanning the far corners of the arts, at Salford’s Sacred Trinity Church. Fused together in pleasurable disharmony, the collective conjure a compelling cacophony comprising avant-everything. There’s Charles Hayward’s half-hour hammering on his snare drum, medieval minimalism by Laura Cannell, a voyage with Hoofus’ oscillating electronica and spoken word by Jennifer Lucy Allan and Luke Turner, in the shape of a performance/talk and reading, respectively. There will also be collaboration, improvisation and audience interaction around and between the lines.
