Los Angeles-based musician and producer Josef Leimberg comes to Manchester this month, visiting Band On The Wall during just a handful of European dates this year. Fusing jazz, hip hop and R ‘n’ B in one tidy package, the widely-admired trumpet player has collaborated with the likes of Frank Ocean, Thundercat, George Clinton and Kamasi Washington amongst a host of others. Leimberg has achieved platinum status as a producer, overseeing a host of tracks for Snoop Dogg from albums ‘Rhythm and Gangsta’ and ‘Paid Tha Cost To Be The Boss’, also touring numerous times with Snoop. Working with Terrace Martin under the alias LoveDragon, the two co-produced Barack Obama’s favourite song of 2015, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘How Much A Dollar Cost’, also committing his baritone vocals to tracks from Lamar’s masterful ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’. Still a committed solo performer, his debut album came two years ago in the shape of ‘Astral Progressions’ to great praise from critics and fans.
