Scared to cycle in winter? National cycling organisation, BikeRight!, are running a whole range of free Freewheeling courses this season to help you to overcome your nerves. Free lessons are available to Greater Manchester residents – no matter what level you are at – and options include learning to ride, road safety, bike maintenance, being seen in the dark and what to wear. A couple of highlights of the programme that we’ve spotted include winter bike maintenance as well as advanced one-to-one tuition where an instructor will cycle your usual route with you, and find the best way to deal with the kind of traffic that crops up along the way. We are big fans of cycling to work at Manchester Wire: not only do you save money, but you can keep commuting time to a minimum and do some exercise at the same time. So why not check out one of the courses or classes, and find out how much time and money you could save? All kit (helmets, bikes and so on) are provided for free as part of your session so you’ve no reason not to get rolling.
