Manchester jazz trio GoGo Penguin continue their rise from the local jazz circuit to international renown by booking a huge hometown show at The Ritz. Now settled into their new home at Blue Note Records with February’s Man Made Object distributed via the French label, their Ritz show will no doubt reference their earlier output via Matthew Halsall’s Gondwana Records imprint, which helped to make their name in the city and beyond. A pair of shows at Band on the Wall earlier in 2016 were both sold out well in advance, so act fast to see them this time around. They are accustomed to bigger stages, having trodden a musical path via a Mercury Prize nomination for the 2014 LP v2.0, as well as continuous critical acclaim, likening their infectious rhythms to minimalist contemporary classical, electronica and jazz.
