If, this summer, you’re expecting a ‘smouldering hot US style low’n’slow competition’, that has everything to do with barbecue and nothing to do with limbo, then this years Grillstock festival at Albert Square in June will not disappoint. The two day festival of meat, music and mayhem has all the southern swagger of Clint Eastwood chewing on some beef jerky, to combine with chilli, hot wing and hot dog eating competitions, plus a teeth-gnashing ‘meat-off’ in the form of the coveted King of the Grill contest. Featuring over 25 bands, including Saturday headline stompers Vintage Trouble, and everything from funk to country on offer, there’s surely something to get your cowboy boots tapping. With Brooklyn Brewery manning the pumps, there’s never been a better time to act hillbilly. Hay-chewing mandatory. To be in with a chance of winning two tickets to this two-day extravaganza, simply send the answer to the question below in email with the subject line ‘Grillstock competition‘ to competitions at manchesterwire dot co dot uk, with your name, age and Twitter handle by midnight on Sunday (8 Jun, 2014). Winners will be announced on Monday (9 Jun).
