Booking is now open for Sylvia Pankhurst’s Manchester, a five-mile guided bike tour of the city centre. Taking place next week, the event celebrates this local icon and giant of feminism. The tour begins at the Pankhurst Centre, off Upper Brook Street, and attendees can take a look at the centre’s heritage rooms before setting off. There will be six stops along the way, each an important place in Pankhurst’s life. There, you will learn more about her work, and the work of others who helped to further the cause of women’s suffrage. The tour ends at the People’s History Museum, near Spinningfields. Attendees will need their own road-worthy bike with a lock. Places are strictly limited to 16, and the last event sold out fast so book quickly to avoid missing out on this.

Thu 21 May, The Pankhurst Centre, 60-62 Nelson Street,  M13 9WP, 10.15am – 1.30pm, £6 (Conc £1), www.eventbrite.com
