Esteemed London big band Hackney Colliery Band are set to peddle more uptempo grooves at the Manchester jazz venue. Famed for their instrumental reworkings of the nation’s favourite pop hits, the nine-piece outfit are dab hands at squeezing every ounce of life out of their instruments to flood music venues across the land with their infectious rhythms. They set a high benchmark for energy levels, which reverberate through any audience’s movements, with even the least enthusiastic dancers unable to resists shaking a leg to their ska, funk and jazz-addled compositions. The support comes from Leeds-based hip hop and soul collective Portmanteau.
