Chetham’s Library is the oldest public library in the English-speaking world but, shhh, you can enjoy some great music and a glass of wine or beer at this pop-up Sundown Session courtesy Hey! Manchester. The first in a summer-long series (also taking place on Thu 11 Jul and Thu 8 Aug) builds on the success of last year’s events and follows the popular, sold-out Unscripted experience over the autumn and winter. You’ll enjoy intimate musical performances specially curated by the city’s most unique and exciting promoters of folk and alternative music, and chosen to resonate with the uniquely historic setting. You’ll also gain access to parts of the building not usually open to daily visitors – lose yourself in the magical medieval spaces, secret stone passages and richly panelled rooms of the library. It’s perfect for relaxing after work, but tickets are limited so be sure to book. Update: The July and August sundown sessions have now been postponed.
