Channeling the more captivating traits of both poetry and hip hop, Akua Naru’s last Manchester performance won hearts and minds to seal her return ticket. Naru is well versed in issues of social justice, feminism and race politics, aiming to empower and educate audiences through her lyrical prowess. Backed by her DIGFLO band featuring keys, saxophone, flute, turntables, drums and guitars, she returns to Manchester’s Band on the Wall this April, six months after an acclaimed show at the same venue.
