A band that single handedly generate an instant carnival atmosphere wherever they take to the stage, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble make a welcome return to Manchester. The seven sons of trumpeter Phil Conran (Earth, Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan, Sun Ra) were known for their performances on the streets of Chicago before the likes of War (as heard on The Hunger Games) and Spottie (a cover or Outkast’s SpottieOttieDopaliscious) elevated them to global status. They’ve worked with Prince, Wu Tang, Mos Def and many more, and appeared on and toured as part of Gorillaz’ Plastic Beach. They also collaborated on tracks with the group Rocket Juice & the Moon, a project featuring Damon Albarn, Flea and legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. They are the best elements of hip hop colliding with the best elements of jazz, and never deliver less than pure fire.
