The folk behind Common and Port Street Beer House are organising a beer festival at Victoria Baths (pictured). The Independent Manchester Beer Convention will offer over 30 keg lines and 30 cask beers, plus Port Street Beer House’s own Portable Street Beer House, pop-up beer tastings, live music and beer-related talks and seminars. Non-alcoholic beverages, in the form of tea and coffee, will be provided by Tib Street’s North Tea Power and Stafford-based coffee roaster Has Bean. Food stalls and mini food tastings will be accompanied by a beer and food pairing event (£45 including festival entry) in association with Prestwich’s Aumbry restaurant. Indy Man Beer Con was conceived in reaction to the organisers’ frustration that existing beer festivals weren’t representative of the craft beer movement. Brewdog, Thornbridge, Magic Rock, Hardknott, The Kernel, Summer Wine and Camden Town are among the breweries who will take part in the event. You can win two tickets to the Saturday evening session (5.30pm – 11pm) by answering the question below. Send an email with IMBC Comp in the header to info@manchesterwire.co.uk, including your name, age, Twitter name and phone number. Entries must be recieved by midnight on Wednesday (3 Oct), with the winner announced on Thursday (4 Oct).
