Having moved to new digs at MediaCityUK, the original cobbled streets of Weatherfield have gone untouched. That is, of course, until now when they form part of a tour of Quay Street Studio’s Coronation Street set; a Graceland, if you will, for fans of the Manchester-based soap. More in-depth than previous tours, visitors are able to go inside, walk down the “Corridor of Stars” and take a peek inside a star’s dressing room. They can step into the wardrobe department and see some iconic outfits from the show’s history or look inside the character’s homes as selected interior sets are revealed. A photo taken behind the bar of the Rovers Return is a must, plus, during the 45-minute guided tour inside the studio, fans will be privy to filming secrets and backstage gossip. Memorable artefacts such as Deirdre’s glasses, murder weapons and the tram crash ‘witness appeal’ road sign are all on display. Act fast though, as this tour will only be available for the next six months. A lifetime in soaps, not so in real life.
