Every now and again one of Manchester’s smaller venues welcomes an artist who is either about to explode, or very recently has. Case in point is South London singer du jour Jessie Ware, who brings her show to Sound Control this November.
Her debut album, Devotion, is released on 20 August, and with the justified hype rising, she’ll be arriving at New Wakefield Street as one of the most talked about new acts in the UK. The 27-year-old is part of a new wave of R’n’B singers blending blue-eyed soul, perky electronica and smooth production into a wholly refreshing take on pop. Comparisons with Sade are understandable, but this is the sound of 2012 and tickets will be snapped up long before the anticipated November date. Click here for a sample of her inmitable style.
