Since playing their debut Manchester show in October 2013, Jungle’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. Starting with a series of 7″ singles that sold out within minutes of being made available, the self-styled collective signed to XL early this year and began recording their eponymous debut LP. Released to instant critical acclaim, it has since been shortlisted for the 2014 Mercury Prize alongside FKA Twigs (to be announced Wed 29 Oct 2014). NME says: “There’s a tone of inner-city malaise, romantic ruin and psychedelic alienation” giving the album a celebratory 8/10. This is the kind of funky music that will lodge in your mind, and become unforgettable in seconds. A winning soundtrack to FIFA games, and TV trailers, expect a party from this band on route to huge.
