Michigan electronic musician Laurel Halo will make her debut Manchester headline appearance at Soup Kitchen. Her first album ‘Quarantine’ was named Wire Magazine’s Album of the Year in 2012. ‘Dust’ is her latest collection of broken electronic soul, and sees her once again on the Hyperdub label, making her stable-mates with DJ Rashad, Ikonika and Burial. Halo’s techno influences stretch from Detroit to Germany and she regularly DJs for Berlin Community Radio. She also wrote the soundtrack for the film ‘Still Be Here’ starring 3D holographic pop star Hatsune Miku. She describes ‘Dust’ as “the happiest album I have made” – expect to see the album on numerous end-of-year lists in 2017.
