In early June, one of Manchester’s most iconic venues, Victoria Baths, is hosting a literary weekend featuring talks, tales, and tours. The event begins bright and early on the Saturday, with writing workshops about short stories, poetry, and creative non-fiction. These are followed by a poetry panel, hosted by Women in Words director Clare Stuart and featuring a trio of writers. They will share their work and explore the apropos theme of water in poetry. In the evening, the bar will be open, and you can enjoy performances by six local writers performing short stories inspired by the Baths, against a backdrop of projections. Sunday’s festivities begin with three author talks, including one from Jonathan Swinton, the author of ‘Alan Turing’s Manchester’. ‘Victorian Women in Bed’ is a series of four short plays to be performed in the Women’s Pool. Also on Sunday, there will be building tours and an indie book fair.
