Craft beer festivals have been on the up and up these last few years. Blowing the cobwebs from dusty old CAMRA outings, festivals such as last year’s IndyManBeerCon at Victoria Baths have welcomed a new generation to the tastes of ales, beers and stouts without the pretentions. Just a short trip down the M62, the Liverpool Craft Beer Expo takes place in the incredible Camp & Furnace (pictured) in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, with over 80 varieties of keg beer and 30 cask ale varieties from brew masters coming from all over the country (including Manchester’s own Marble and Blackjack Brewery). With live brewing taking place by different beer-makers in each of the four sessions, plus music curated by Bido Lito! magazine – so expect an eclectic array of performances, DJ adventures and very special guests all presented within the expo’s Beer Barrel Musical Bunker – this is sure to be bigger than your average beerfest. To go along with these beers and good times you may require something to sop up the ale; here the expo has you covered too, with a fine selection of burgers, hot dogs and savoury doughnuts (we’ll be first in line to try the smoked beef, whiskey and cheddar cheese). Fun for aficionados and newcomers alike, this new wave of beer festivals look set to wash over the old. See you at the bar.
