Soulful, captivating, uplifting, these are just three ways to describe legendary Grammy winning artist Macy Gray. Luckily for us, Gray is returning to Manchester in March next year on tour to promote her latest release Stripped, her first jazz album. Gray is best known for her distinguished raspy vocals and breakout single I Try that catapulted her to fame in the late 1990’s. She featured on Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman album this year providing Gray with a new audience to rediscover her alternative voice for soul. Her album Stripped brilliantly combines that soulful voice with elements of jazz, blues and R&B; the album even sees Gray give I Try a jazz flavoured makeover.
