Manchester Food and Drink Festival celebrates 21 years in the game in 2018. The 12-day event, which begins at the end of September, takes over Albert Square with food stalls, banqueting and beer halls as well as interactive cookery demos and live music. The Dining Dome plays host to ticketed events including a supper club from wellness and nutrition expert Jasmine Hemsley, who is teaming up with Levenshulme’s Trove, for a night of organic and locally-sourced food. The region’s Spanish restaurant scene is celebrated as three of its finest proponents (Lunya, Baratxuri, and Evuna) collaborate on a fiesta showcasing the country’s regional cuisines. The Dome also hosts two days of live cookery demonstrations and masterclasses from some culinary greats, such as Mary-Ellen McTague and Simon Wood. On the drinks side, there will be a Brew Fest, a Cider Fest, and a fifties-style wine bar. Joyce and Raissa de Haas will present the Double Dutch Gin & Tonic Bar and there’s a separate Gin Festival too. Watch this space for more.
