If watching roboteers fighting to the death with their home-made creations sounds like your average quiet weekend, I’m sorry to report it’s not a new reality show (yet!) – but forms part of the festivities for this year’s Manchester Comic Con. Moving on from the hugely successful Robot Wars series – and with Craig Charles nowhere in sight – fans can watch favourites from the series battle it out live. Elsewhere lookout for guest speakers such as Andrew Lee Potts and DC Douglas, with a wealth of retro gaming and trade stalls selling everything from manga to trading cards. With Dance Dance Revolution (or dance mats to the muggles), masquerade and Cosplay activities also on the agenda, there’s something for everyone this July. Expect baggy underwear, lycra and earnest fantasy role play. Not necessarily in that order.
