The Meters are legendary in funk circles and true trailblazers, hailing from New Orleans and defining a sound as the genre came into its own, alongside contemporaries like James Brown. George Porter, Jr is bassist and singer of the band, who won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. George remains active on the flaming hot New Orleans funk scene, having assembled funk veterans to join him in his band The Runnin’ Pardners. Eight piece organ-led soul from Crowd Company warms up proceedings.
