Electronic music pioneer Michael Rother has been booked to perform live at Sound Control as part of a short UK tour this April. Having appeared in an early incarnation of Kraftwerk, the guitarist later co-founded the seminal krautrock bands Neu! and Harmonia, before further securing his place in popular music history by releasing nine albums under his own name. Over a career now into its fifth decade, he’s worked with several waves of the genre’s lifecycle, from fellow German kosmische trailblazers like Dieter Moebius to John Frusciante and Secret Machines. Whether collaborating or playing solo, his performances still feel as futuristic, powerful and unrelentingly groovy as they did in the 1970s.
