Bill Withers, Isaac Hayes and the Isley Brothers acted as a troika of firm inspiration for The Milk’s second album Favourite Worry, on which they unleash soul fire tinged with blues. Their sound has garnered praise from the likes of Huey Morgan, Gilles Peterson and even Elton John, and their incendiary live show brings their  soulful strut to the fore. The band are accompanied by acid jazzers New Street Adventure, whose new album was produced by The Milk’s Mitch Ayling. Firmly entrenched in the mod string of soul DNA and strongly supported by the Northern Soul scene, NSA recently blew the lid off Band On The Wall for the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club. DJ support is by one Jamie Groovement, who I’m sure will get some toes tapping.
