Myron & E at Band on the Wall

LA-based record label Stones Throw has been in the limelight recently with the release of a film, Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton, documenting its 18 years in the game. Contributors in the piece are keen to point out the variety of styles making up the label’s catalogue – Myron & E, then, represent the vocal soul aspect of Stones Throw to the fullest. The two met on the road as backing artists, and starting to work together while on tour with Blackalicious. E met up with one of Europe’s finest retro-soul bands, the Soul Investigators, and recruited Myron as a singing and songwriting partner. The eventual result, the album Broadway, contains the sweetest soul backed by the tightest hooks of the Investigators – certainly retro, but with modern thinking in the production ensuring relevance. A vibe in the vein of fellow Stones Throw alumni Mayer Hawthorne and Aloe Blacc, but that bit more raw.
