Tickets are selling fast for Northern Grip, a family-friendly mountain biking festival that’s now in its third year. It takes place in early July, just outside the Lancashire town of Bacup. The hub is at a couple of quarries which offer some wild single track rides over rocks and gravel. Other routes explore the surrounding valleys, and there are even climb-free options for those who just want a cruise to take in the views. There are a variety of courses, from 3km pootles to 30km epics. All the routes are mapped out and the ways marked for your convenience. There’s also a host of other things on at the festival hub, including bike exhibitors, discounted clothing sellers, on-site catering and bar, and live music. Advance camping tickets are available, that let you stay over for two nights, with a secure bike park, toilets, and showers.
