Seventeen years and 12 albums into their ever-evolving career, there are few genres barriers of Montreal are yet to break. Yet with new album Lousy With Sylvianbriar, they show no signs of slowing down the transformation process. Described by Clash  as ‘a genre-morphing triumph that reveals new surprises with each listen’, Kevin Barnes and co. name-drop Sylvia Plath, Neil Young and the Grateful Dead as influences this time round as they take their transformation to another level (listen to single Fugitive Air here). Known for their accompanying eccentric stage aesthetic, they’re sure to have even more surprise up their sleeves as they return to Manchester next February as part a five-date UK tour in support of the album. Put on by Now Wave and almost guaranteed to involve psychedelic costumes and stage props, their show at Gorilla is the only way to find out.
