A genre-defying blend of hip hop, dance, and free form antics, BLKDOG is a new stage show that’s currently on a major tour of the UK. It arrives at the Lowry later this month, staying for one night only. The work is centred on the inner struggle of an ageing artist trying to retain his youth, and it explores the themes of changing cultures, coping mechanisms and the hunt for acceptance. Lauded by critics, it won Best New Dance Production at last year’s Olivier Awards. The show is a presentation by Far From The Norm, a renowned collective of skilled dancers. Founded in 2009 by artistic director Botis Seva, the group has become well-known for experimenting with hip hop whilst tackling socio-political issues. The group’s extensive portfolio includes not only theatre performances, but also outdoor spectacles and immersive experiences. Be sure to book soon, as tickets are selling fast.
