Of all the surprises that the Olympics threw up – Britain being good at sport sometimes, community spirit, lack of self-loathing etc – the biggest was probably the fact that the music of Fuck Buttons managed to get into the opening ceremony. Yes, Fuck buttons – the work of Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power, the weird, kind of droney, experimental electronic two-piece signed to ATP recording. So, while the closing ceremony had some Bowie and Kate Bush, and was a little bit awful, this generation’s crowning glory was soundtracked by two tracks – ‘Surf Solar’ and ‘Olympians’ – by the duo – who’re back with a new album, Slow Focus, and have arranged this tour to celebrate. Given the criminally limited attention span of most people, expect the usual strange crowd you’d have seen pre-London 2012, but don’t be too surprised if you find a couple of people there trying to get into the Olympic spirit too.
