Pen:Chant is an alternative cabaret night that showcases spoken word acts, comedy and music. The next event is in July, at its regular venue of Gullivers on Oldham Street. The headlining act is Harry Baker, a veritable superstar in the world slam poetry. He is returning to Manchester for the first time in over a year, following a world tour and even a TED talk. Harry has won has a whole host of slam poetry awards, and gained many fans, including Scott Mills and Ed Sheeran. Also on the bill is the cult comedy duo of Katie Norris and Sinead Parker, who specialise in dark, absurdist characters and sketches. They will be performing material from their new show See You At The Gallows, ahead of its formal debut at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe. Completing the line-up is singer-songwriter Julie E. Gordon, who previously sang with the Happy Mondays.
