Olivia Gatwood is more than just a writer. Sure, she writes – and she writes really, really well – but Gatwood transcends the notion of someone who just writes books and then, well, goes onto get them published. Gatwood goes above and beyond this process: her words, in a sense, follow on from the page in which they are printed, helping to shape society itself; a guidebook for existence. Gatwood is an activist; she is a progressive voice in a world that, at times, is a little bit too crazy. This October she brings her transformative travelling show to Manchester’s The Dancehouse as she promotes her newest book Life of the Party, which explores femininity in a landscape of dissonance and violence, inspired by true crimes committed against women. The night will provide you with the opportunity to hear Gatwood in conversation as she explores the stories and the personal events that she has, over the years, poured into her work. She provides an outlook that does not correlate and correspond to a single person: her worldview is universal in its scope. There is also the change to buy her book at a discounted price – although this is available online only, and must be pre-booked via the website, with the book collection taking place on the night itself.
