Bryony Kimmings returns to HOME this week with her latest production I’m A Phoenix, Bitch following an extended run at Battersea Arts Centre and a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe. Having previously brought productions such as Fake It Til You Make It to HOME to rapturous praise, the positive noises surrounding the previous performances of her latest will come as no surprise to locals. Kimmings brings her grasp of dark humour and powerful storytelling to relate the tale of her struggles in 2016 with an unwell child, the ending of a relationship and a post-natal breakdown. Kimmings’ usual mix of art forms and storytelling will be evident in I’m A Phoenix, Bitch as she creates a new story and a legend of the invisible woman – one she wishes she’d been told since birth. Fresh from the box office smash of her first feature film, Last Christmas – Directed by Bridesmaids’ Paul Feig and released this month – this is a chance to see a theatre and filmmaker, in their element.
