Celebrate LGBTQ lives in the digital age when the Queer Media Festival returns to HOME. The festival is now in its fourth year and is packed with speakers and sessions telling a rainbow of stories through the eyes of virtual reality, interactive games and mobile film-making. The one-day festival includes a keynote workshop from BBC journalism trainer Deirdre Mulcahy, who will show how to use a smartphone to tell tales of marginalised people. Hold onto your cobbles for the interactive television battle ‘Hilda vs Deirdre: Queer Corrie Spectacular’ hosted by Manchester drag queens. And don’t miss ‘Queering Animation’ with lashings of LGBTQ animated short films. There are many more digital delights too, alongside discussions and workshops. Last year’s Queer Media Festival sold out, so it’s worth booking tickets early.
