First Time is a humorous, unflinching and unapologetic one man show about growing up queer and HIV positive in a world that struggles to accept either. After a first time he couldn’t possibly forget, Nathaniel attempts to live out his best life, clinging to positivity despite the negativity that surrounds him. Proud Mancunian, queer artist and activist Nathaniel Hall, who brings us this powerful piece of theatre, is dedicated to producing bold work that challenges misconceptions about queer culture and HIV. He hid his own HIV positive status from friends and family for 14 years, now he wants to promote more realistic contemporary representations of HIV in popular culture. First Time is in collaboration with the Greater Manchester PaSH partnership (Passionate about Sexual Health) and headlines a weekend of events at Waterside to commemorate 30 years since the first World Aids Day. Events include creative workshops, gallery exhibitions, free HIV testing and a celebratory ‘coming out’ party that will raise money for local HIV charities.
