One of the more unusual activities to pop up in the city lately, Breakout Manchester challenges you and your friends to escape from captivity in under an hour. To do so, you must solve a series of puzzles and mysteries by searching for clues within its rooms. There are seven ‘real life escape rooms’ to choose from – ranging from John Monroe’s Detective Office, ranked 3 out of 5 for difficulty, through to the Madchester room, rated 5 out of 5. Two identical rooms, Classified 1 and 2, offer the chance for teams to compete against each other, meanwhile. With groups of between two and five people, you’ll need to work together to escape – and with only half of participants succeeding, it’s a real test of your teamwork and collective intelligence. Many time slots are already filled, so book well in advance via Breakout Manchester’s website.
