Photographer Richard Kelly has announced that his first solo exhibition, entitled Selected Music Works: 1999-2019, is due to take place at Colony in Ancoats from Fri 15 Nov to Tue 14 Jan 2020. Taking inspiration from a found box of old prints, Kelly will exhibit a carefully curated selection of photographs of the British music scene from past two decades. Key photographs include Amy Winehouse supporting The Arctic Monkeys at their two-night stint at Old Trafford in 2007, the Arctic Monkeys, Pete Doherty and poet John Cooper Clarke from 2005. A selection of prints from Kelly’s current personal project working with MCs and rappers from Moss Side will also be on show, along with Kelly’s famous Free Ian Brown photograph taken in Longsight, back in 1998. These photographs are also up for private auction with funds raised being donated to the British Culture Archive. The exhibition is free and open for the public to attend.
