The Cathedral might not be the first venue you think of for a rock concert, but from time to time, in between candle-lit requiems, some excellent musicians perform there. Coming later this month is the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten. Known for her thoughtful alt-rock songs with strong use of harmony, she’s long been a darling of the NPR and AV Club crowd Stateside. With her fourth album, this year’s Are We There, she has gained not only critical plaudits but also some mainstream success on both sides of the Atlantic. Van Etten is signed to Jagjaguwar, home to many other critically lauded acts including The Besnard Lakes and Bon Iver. Support comes from folk and blues guitarist Marisa Anderson.
