Top literary event producers Fane Productions have announced the starry initial programme and dates for Words Weekend, with over 60 special events set to take place in five different spaces at The Lowry between Friday 27 and Sunday 29 March 2020. Leading this year’s line up is an array of must-see events including Sir Bob Geldof, who will be on hand to discuss his new book Tales of Boomtown Glory, hilarious and horrifying stories from Doctor-turned-author Adam Kay, a discussion with Bridget Jones mastermind Helen Fielding and a special in-conversation event between stage icons Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi. This is the second iteration of the literary festival, which first took place at Sage Gateshead in December 2019; this year’s Salford line-up also features a reading by Max Porter, author of Grief is the Thing with Feathers, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, one of the world’s greatest living explorers, reflecting on his journey through life, an intimate autobiographical performance from acclaimed author Nikesh Shukla and a discussion on how to live as adults in the age of social media led by Emma Jane Unsworth, author of Animals and Adults. Best of all, tickets to 25% of the programme will be free, with all events fully accessible and BSL interpreted. Visit The Lowry website to explore the full line up and book tickets.
