Art in Architecture – the first in a series of summer ‘alternative city tours’ organised by local website The Skyliner – focuses on artworks that can be found ‘in the negative spaces of the city, where we spend so much of our lives’, and not in the art galleries. The trip traces a path from within the architectural post-war icons of Piccadilly and loops around the city centre taking in a variety of unorthodox, living galleries. Expect vast murals tucked away in stairwells and groundbreaking historical photography hiding in a restaurant. This field trip proves that there’s art in the everyday, even in the most mundane of buildings.

Tue 6 Aug, Various locations around the city centre, 2pm – 4pm, £5, Booking advised – via theskyliner.org
