Remember that sunshine salsa you were listening to as the rays warmed your soul last summer? Son Yambu’s show at Band on the Wall this week is a welcome reminder of that during these wintry climes. It’s 80 per cent shoulder shaking grooviness and the rest plain old good vibes. Despite now being based in London, it hasn’t sapped their ability to evoke the South American musical flair learned from their Cuban roots. Consisting of brass, percussion and strings, the septet combine to great effect in support of lead vocalist Yuriselys Moreno Soria, a natural entertainer since her singing debut at the age of 12.
