Sound Control is turning five – and there’s therefore a bit of a do planned at the end of the month. Will there be cake and ice cream like other fifth birthday parties? We can’t be sure, but we do know there is to be a very special show and after party. Headlining the gig are Moston’s very own Northside. The now-reunited band were part of the original Madchester scene, and are best known for their psychedelic single Shall We take a Trip. Support comes from local indie/electro outfit The Slow Readers Club, and from up-and-coming Boltonian singer-songwriter Jordan Allen. The after party is set to feature a long list of local club talent, including Drop the Mustard, Lowdown, Bassface and Leftism.
Thu 29 Jan, Sound Control, 1 New Wakefield Street, M1 5NP, 7.30pm (gig), 10.30pm (after party), £11 (both events), £3.50 (after party only), www.soundcontrolmanchester.co.uk
